How to follow your dreams when you often encounter Naysayers

A very common reason that we get short of motivation and the enthusiasm to pursue great things is the company of naysayers. Yes, even though we do not intentionally choose the company of such people in most instances, they are found everywhere. Also, naysayers can be found among our close friends or family. So, in that case (and also in many cases) it is practically not feasible to get rid of them altogether, and encounter with them is inevitable. But, don’t worry. We will help you learn how to overcome their negative energy which they often emit unintentionally. Moreover, you will also learn how to leverage that energy to channel your bright side and pursue your dreams. As Al Franken says, “It is easier to put on slippers than to carpet the whole world.”

1- The first and foremost thing you have to do is to train your brain to be unresponsive and unreceptive to the opinions and beliefs of naysayers. Listen and ignore statements like ‘It’s a difficult, unrealistic, and unachievable goal’, ‘we cannot do this’, etc.

2- Take time to think about your goals, devise and revise your plans to achieve your goals, on a daily basis. It will help you nullify the false beliefs and inaction statements that you have encountered.

3- Repeat positive affirmations daily such as, “I can do this”, “I deserve this”, and so on.

4- Once you clear your mind of unworthy information presented by naysayers, do not procrastinate in taking action that helps you move closer to your goal.

5- Do not let your brain be on auto-pilot to preserve whatever information has been presented. Rather be selective and sift the receiving information carefully.

6- Lastly, identify the naysayers from procrastinators and average performers and try your best to stay close to elite performers and action-takers.
